Two things come to mind when I think of Norway – EPIC and ridiculously expensive.
Norway

Wonderful photos, I wish I had the patience to take such beautiful shots. All to often I rush things and wind up disappointed when I review later. Have a great trip!
And suddenly I want to go climbing in Norway. Great photos. Cheers.
Yeah, me too 🙂
Beautiful photos. Wow.
If you ever have the chance, you must go to Preikestolen!
Awww, I wish there was more content to go with these beautiful photos! What makes it so expensive? What would you compare it to?
It is the most expensive country on the Big Mac index, just the burger costs around 7-8 dollars, about 90% more than in the US – Not that I recommend eating that junk 😉
For travelling cheaply I would suggest Couch surfing – if you don´t mind living for free with people in their own homes.
I visited and some Norwegians explained this to me (while I lived in Sweden for several years – I’m Canadian). The country is oil rich and what they decided to do, was rather than make things cheaper for everyone or put money into infrastructure for everyone that they would pay people more money for doing their jobs (very high salaries). This made the cost of living higher. So as a visitor, you are paying prices from your “home” salary, which wouldn’t be as much as people in Norway are making. Apparently there is disagreement among citizens about whether this was the best strategy for what to do with the country’s wealth. I hope this helps. It is lovely though. Reminded me a lot of home (British Columbia) though, which was nice while I lived in Sweden.
Lindsay Coca Cola 0.5 ml in campsite will cost you 25 NOK, cabin in campsite for 4 people will cost you 675 NOK/night without shower and WC and bed clothes.
Country itself is unbelievably beautiful but the prices are extremely high even to Norwegians. Non of them I met do park car in Oslo, as it is too expensive. The price for car parking in Oslo is approx. 330 NOK/day. The airport shuffle will cost you 150 NOK. If you are more than 2 people travelling to Norway it is cheaper to rent a car. Gas is a bit expensive than in Europe, but there are many roads you have to pay for.
Love the post. Might I ask which camera you used? Also, Norway and expensive? From what I have heard, it is one of the few somewhat “cheap” countries in Europe? Looking at the photos and the scenery, I might not agree to what my ears heard. But can you elaborate. Also, cheers on getting a Freshly Pressed. Well deserved! 😀
Are you kidding?
I am norwegian and I am completely broke! Gosh, I wish things where cheaper here.. Oslo is supposed to be one of the most expensive citys in the world.
Also the further you go in the country, where there are hardly any shops.. the higher the price will be, because they know that since there are so few shops around people will be forced to buy it any way.
Yeah, this is sad..
I used to live in Finnmark in northern Norway, in a small fishing village. In winter, a cucumber cost 100 nok/kg. Needless to say, we didn´t eat cucumber.
It is expensive to live there, but I thought that with the high salary, it cost me the same to live there as it does in New Zealand where I currently live cause here, you earn shit, and things still cost roughly the same as they do in say Sweden. Ridiculous…
But Norway will always be close to my heart (I´m swedish). It´s the most beautiful country.
Thank you! I shoot with a Nikon D7000. Hmm not sure where you heard that, but its def one of the most expensive places in the world lol not sure why though (for example a redbull is $7.50 USD) crazy!
Pingback: Yep, we’re playing. « Its simple, really.
Beautiful!!!
Oh, my. I want to go, though, I am not to fond of the ridiculously expensive part 🙂 Beautiful photos!
beautiful night shot! I missed out on going to Norway during my Eurotrip last year. Your pictures make me really wish I’d gone!
Awesome! I don’t like the ‘expensive’ part though… I’m planning a trip to Norway, Sweden, and Iceland for next summer. Any hot tips?
I mean…that is too good!!! Difficult to believe that such a heavenly place actually exists in this world…Very beautiful pictures and landscape 🙂
I think there are many heavenly places in the world. Being a travel photographer is a great way to go about seeing them!

Hi! I have moved to Norway just 4 months ago and I totally agree that it’s both EPIC end expensive. But on the other hand you can put up your tent wherever you want and you will have the most breathtaking morning coffee ever! Check out my photos, if you like: zbigniewwantuch.com.

Stunning photos! Are these from all over Norway or one particular area? I plan on going next year (and luckily I have friends who will be living there so we should be able to stay with them to save a little money!).
The clouds in the first picture…I thought they only exist in movies :O. Great post! ^_^
Norway is green and clean. Thanks for sharing the photos. Connie

Stunning! As an elementary school student in 6th grade, I remember the study of Norway, Sweden and Switzerland. I was enamored. I placed that area on my list of places to see…and now I can live a portion of that dream through your photographs. Thank you.

Norway is awesome!
What beautiful pictures!
My beautiful homeland 🙂 Hope you enjoyed it and that your not bankrupt because of your visit. trololol
maravillas de noruega
Norway is a very beautiful country 🙂
But I think sweden beats Norway!!
No way, Norway is much more beautiful than Sweden. Norway has the Fjords and mountains, but Sweden has the large cities.
You Know Menorca?
Visit my blog and Konw the “The blue and white Island” from my perspective.
Your blog is very beautiful.
http://menorcacosas2011.blogspot.com
Norway looks like such a beautiful country. I’d love to visit – but like you say, I have heard it’s very expensive. The rural town in that middle photo looks simply gorgeous. The kind of place I’d like to retire to!
amazing..
Wow…. Beautiful.. I wish that I had a chance to get there
Beautiful pics, especially of the falls, but my favorite was of the campsite. I love that a goat just wandered into your campsite and was investigating things.
I love the shot of a lady looking over the valley. I am picturing the “promised land” 🙂
wow spectacular. I am looking forward to my trip to Norway! Been browsing through several blogs documenting trips in Norway. This is great!
Nice photos! I thought Norway was a magical world
Btw, my favorite picture is the sixth one. Were you watching the sunrise?
Fascinating.:)
Beautiful work.

EPIC and ridiculously expensive – that’s more than 2 words 😉
Anyway: nice photos. It’s always interesting to see how other people experience “your” country. Thanks!

“Two things come to mind when I think of Norway – EPIC and ridiculously expensive.”

Love it! The only thing come to my mind when I think of Norway is peaceful.
Lovely photos, and totally agree with your description–unbelievably beautiful, unbelievably expensive!
So beautiful~. each pics can set up as wallpaper.
I was in Norway more than 30 years ago, I just started to work and income was quite low…I remember hat to buy food in the supermarket because it was so expensive that we could not go daily to restaurant or our holiday had finish within a few days! But I still remember what a beautiful country and your photo are a joy to see. Thanks for posting,
robert
Epic, you are right!! I had no idea Norway is THAT beautiful! Amazing pics!
Yes, Norway is both epic and terribly expensive. Luckily I can stay with family most of the time. Norwegiants have a high standard of living and are a very accepting people. I have two posts with photos from my trip to Norway two years ago: http://volovecto.wordpress.com/2010/08/23/navigating-norway-the-great-circle-route-from-oslo-to-sand-and-back/, and, http://volovecto.wordpress.com/2010/08/11/jesus-is-a-mannequin-and-other-observations-in-norway/.
such beautiful pictures, incredible landscape. thank you for sharing.
“The majesty of Norway”! That’s actually the title I gave an essay I wrote for a Nigeian newspaper after my husband and I had a 3-day holiday visit six years ago and to think we didn’t get to go outside Oslo! The first picture does remind me of a boat ride on one of those night-time mini cruises down the fjord with the mountains on either side, though not the actual location.
Stunning pictures of beautiful places by a committed tourist. Thanks for sharing.emotanafricana.com
What beautiful pictures. I really enjoyed looking through them all. Norway is a truly incredible place. Thanks for sharing!!
Michael, your photographs are so beautiful. Some of them look like they’re out a fairy tale. Now I want to visit Norway all the more. Thank you for posting!

Gorgeous photos.
Beautiful.
These pictures really make me homesick for Norway. I never really lived there, but after spending an entire summer in Oslo and driving around, I do feel homesick in a way.
Words cannot express such beauty……I am from Hawaii and even though it is not like my islands, it is equally majestic in all its grandeur! Well shot photos and thank you for taking them……….
Love these photos! I am going to Norway in 3 weeks for my honeymoon so I was very pleased to come across your photos! Beautiful.
Nice photos.
Those pictures are so beautiful. They can take you miles away from where you are. That is how I feel when I write. Beautiful Pics…love it!
Breathtaking!
I am amazed at how you can capture the beauty of these areas so well! I live in Norway, and I guess we don’t appreciate the nature as much as visitors do. I agree it’s THE most expensive place. When norwegians travel to the rest of Europe (I, for example, live in France atm) we are stunned by the cheap prices and we spend a lot of money 🙂
Great photography, can’t wait to see more from this blog!
Really surprised to hear that it’s extremely expensive in Norway. How much does a typical meal costs? Keen to hear more so maybe can plan a trip there soon 🙂 Ya live in a beautiful country!
Norway is one of the three richest countries in the world (GDP). It’s mostly expensive for tourists because of the high value of our currency. It’s not terribly expensive for Norwegians as we’re paid in local currency, and we have some of the highest salaries in the world.
A typical meal? Well, a standard pizza at a local restaurant is about 150 NOK, soft drinks >50 NOK and so on. You can find cheaper junk food, and a lot more expensive restaurants. The supermarkets are of course much, much cheaper.
Fantastic Shot there
Wonderfull pict 🙂
awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Beautiful indeed!
Congrats for being Freshly Pressed.
These pictures are amazing. I’ve always like pictures of nature, especially where water features are included. I have no idea what the modeling industry is like in Norway, but it would be cool to do a photoshoot there.
Simply gorgeous
i love how the entire village is built around the lake. at night it appears as one big glowing nest. it’s beautiful.
Nordick Vikings! What’s not to like? Kudos on beng FB’d!

Now i think,I want to visit Norway the next year
Beautiful, beautiful set of photographs!!

Great pictures, my country is beautiful! I know it’s very expensive, but just like in any other country, there are ways to live cheap and it doens’t have to be that bad. But I’m glad you enjoyed your stay and that the prices haven’t ruined the good experiences 🙂
Cool man

Beautiful !
Great pictures .. Like picture postcards:)
Beautiful! 😀
keep going!
these are freaking gorgeous. LOVE IT!
Absolutely beautiful shots! When I look at them I am proud to be norwegian 😉
It is very expensive here, but most citizens earn more than other europeans or americans do, so the total cost of living here for us isnt much higher than for a german living in Germany.
Once again, beautiful photos!
Simply majestic. I’d like to climb in to the images and spend some time there. Thank you for these.
Nice photo. I Love You Norway 🙂
Beautiful photographs! Thanks for sharing.
Very cool pictures. The scenery is beautiful!
I loved these photos of Norway. Unfortunately I’ve only been far north as Malmo, Sweden which you know is just a 1/2 hr. train ride from Copenhagen, Denmark. We were there last year.
The simulation of some of that scenery in those photos would be along the Pacific coast in British Columbia –except it’s even wilder and more remote. Just full of thick old-grown, temperate rain forests. You would love this area. I wrote this recently with pic for another blog:
http://www.velo-city2012blog.com/?p=552
Seriously cool stuff, congrats on being pressed
Rob
Awsome!!!
Congrats! You should come and visit Chile, we have very beautiful landscapes too. Norway looks awesome in your pictures.
I’d love to go sometime. In the meantime, thanks for letting me see it through your eyes.
I especially like the second to last photo. Would love to go to Norway! Thanks for capturing it.
haha, It doesn`t seem too expensive to me (even though, yes It`s definitely more expensive than other places)… but that`s probably because I`m Norwegian. 🙂
Beautiful pictures BTW 🙂
It´s amazing how you can capture an scenic view compressed in only one photo!
Wow…amazing photos!
Wow and wow and wow and wow. I particularly love the dusk picture of the village across the lake. It really awakens the imagination about what’s going on in each of those homes. These photos make me want to go to Norway tomorrow instead of to work. Though it sounds like I would not be able to afford it 😉 Congrats on freshly pressed.
Man, I never thought Norway of being that beautiful! Thanks for giving me a different perspective of things! I love the photos 🙂
that night shot is beautiful, what an awesome vantage point!
Stunning photographs! Norway looks so breathtakingly beautiful! 🙂
so breathtaking!!
Nice, this good pictures! I love it!
incredible
I love your photos! Norway is one of my favorite places in the world. I have been there twice, once for 3 months, and once for 3 weeks and I am going again this May. You couldn’t have said it better. It truly is an ‘epic’ country with gorgeous views, but it is the most expensive place I’ve visited. I went broke both times I was there and could barely afford to eat by the end of my 3 month trip! Great post!
Fotos are awesome !!!
Norway is a fairy land 🙂
beautiful pics…
beautiful pics! hope some day i get to visit these sites!
Wonderful photos. I wish I get a chance to go to Norway to take such a beautiful photos like these. some of my photos of Indonesia http://pelangiadyacitra.blogspot.com/
Michael,
These are some very good photographs. The comments on the cost of living in norway are interesting. I just returned from a 3 month trip to Vietnam and the Philippines, where the cost of a haircut is around $1.50.

Cheers,
Mike

God made Norway expensive to keep the tourist hordes from trashing the place.
Amazing Pics……
Awesome photos! Yes it’s a beautiful little country! Remember as a kid when it used to be less expensive than in my homecountry. We had Volvo and I guess they hadn’t found the oil yet…
these photos are absolutely Stunning!!
I’ve never thought to visit Norway, but on my journey’s next year I’m definitely going to look into it.
Such an amazing bucolic scenery, a very tempting country. I can only imagine how inspiring to roll over the grassland only to feel the perfect stomping ground. A genuine photography that will truly motivate it’s viewers.
Gorgeous! I Love the lighting in all of the photos, especially because they are all different. Between the hazy cross processed feel and the night photos, you have a really nice collection here. My favorite part is the juxtaposition of the dreadies and the quaint farm town. Really great stuff, thanks for sharing!
wow really nice photography……… mind blowing scenary and also the wonderful search for a perfect photo shot by u
woww ! it’s so beatiful
I am so jealous…
Lovely images. Thank you for nudging my Norwegian travel bug.
TURKEY amazing country I would recommend going too … STUNNING
Love this country was there 5 years ago!
Pingback: Wilderness in Norway « coolforschool
I ilove the images. They are extremely persuasive. Though I’ve never been to Norway, it would indeed be a great expedition. I am so sure that I would enjoy such adventure simply based upon my observation of the photos above. Very few people included in my social circle have ever been to Norway, altogether. The scenery here in the southeastern state of Georgia can, I’m sure in some places, might resemble these pictures above, but I’m not ashamed to state that I have never witnessed. Maybe, if I one day became rich, I’ll see about making arrangements for a family trip across the globe- but that is only a “maybe”.
I love being Norwegian when I see a post like this, and all the beautiful comments. Kind of makes it worth while to live in this small country 🙂
I’ve got Norwegian blood in me, and this is the first time i got to see some of it 🙂
Thanks.
If it is EPIC, it has to be expensive! Good that they kept it high priced. Then they can conserve it better.
great pictures!! i just got back from there! yes,, expensive… but lovely view…
My two favorites, although I have to say all of them are excellent, are the creek and the night lights. Aesthetically appealing in every way, shape, and form. Kudos to you and your talent. Hope the experience was a good one, I have it on my bucket list.
I have got to say that these are the most beautiful pictures I have ever seen. I wish I could go and see where these were taken and experience the atmosphere myself. I think my favorite one of all was the last of with all the lights and the purple-blue sky and the water in the middle, just gorgeous! Can’t wait to see more pictures!
Absolutely breathtaking! Thank you so much for sharing!
Congratulations on your website!!
